 Monroe, a resident of Durant, Oklahoma, passed into the arms of her Savior in Durant, Oklahoma on Thursday November 23, 2017 at the age of 97. She was born in Sardis, Oklahoma to Lawrence Olden and Effie Lena (Carlton) Wade on February 21, 1920.

Clessie married her beloved Willie in Durant, Oklahoma in MayƂ 22, 1940.

Clessie loved to sew for her family, create beautiful paintings, and the thrill of square dancing. But the thing she cherished the most was her family, she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

Mrs. Monroe is survived by her sons, Randall Monroe and wife Brenda of Kingston, Oklahoma, and Richard Monroe and wife Lola of Moses Lake, Washington; cherished grandchildren, Mekayla Barnes and husband Bob of Durant, Oklahoma, Katherine Monroe of Addison, Texas, Vanessa Schalkle and husband Jon of Renton, Washington, Veronica Fernandez and husband Jorge of Lynnwood, Washington, and Adam Monroe of Ft. Worth, Texas; six cherished great-grandchildren; siblings, Lawson Wade and wife Sue of Antlers, Oklahoma, Martha Rogers of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Lena Lawless of Antlers, Oklahoma, and Verna Berry of Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Monroe was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Effie Wade; husband, Willie Monroe; son, Willie R. Monroe; brothers, Moody Wade, and Thomas Wade; sisters, Vanita Maxey, and Dessie Locke.

Family hour will be from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM on Wednesday November 29th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday November 30th at the Highland Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Michael Moody officiating.
