Lola Ruth Kidd’s sunrise was February 6, 1913, and her sunset was October 10, 2008.
Ruth went home on the wings of angels to be with her lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Ruth, a devout Christian, was born at Brown, Oklahoma. The daughter of William (Bill) Clark, and Willful (Teague) Clark, Ruth married L.E. (Cork) Kidd April 8, 1934, at Caddo, Oklahoma. Ruth graduated from Durant High School in 1932 and Grayson County School of Nursing in 1972.
Ruth, a retired L.P.N., worked for Dr. R. E. Sawyer, old Durant Hospital, Bryan Memorial, Texoma Medical Center and Oak Ridge Manor. Ruth was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 79 years. She taught Adult Sunday School classes. She also sang church solos and sang in the church choir. Ruth enjoyed oil painting, embroidery, and making homemade quilts. Until unable, Ruth belonged to the Durant Art Guild, Home Demonstrations, Rosedale Garden Club and the W.M.U. at Calvary.
Ruth was the grandchild of Moses Clark who founded the First Baptist Church in Durant. Ruth dearly loved Calvary and her church family. The family would like to express sincere thanks to those who entered their lives during their time of need, especially Dr. Deepak Jaiswal and the nurses and medical staff at Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. Pastor Bro. Darel Bunch for prayers offered and Calvary Baptist Church and Four Seasons Rest Home.
Ruth loved flowers but feel free to send memorials to Calvary Baptist Church or the charity of your choice. Ruth is survived by her son Jim of Durant, Oklahoma; sister Billy Gay Oakley of Jefferson, Maryland, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Richard Kidd and Dennis Kidd, one brother Charles Clark, sisters Mildred Jennifer, Sybil Walker, Anita Prater and Peggy Welch. “Not only so but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance, character, and character hope,” Romans 5: 3-4
Services for Mrs. Kidd will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. Darel Bunch officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery under the direction of Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
