Kathleen B. Grider passed away in Durant, Oklahoma on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the age of 87 years 11 months and 12 days. She was born on Monday, March 31, 1924 in McRay, Arkansas to Issac Lane and Zola (Layton) Bardwell. Kathleen married Thomas Jefferson Grider in 1945 in Sherman, Texas.
Kathleen was a member the Chamber of Commerce Red Coats and the Calvary Baptist Church. She was a longtime member of the Woodmen of the World. She enjoyed dancing and music and especially enjoyed preparing meals for her family. But, most of all, Kathleen loved having her family together. Kathleen was known around the world for her famous pies.
Mrs. Grider is survived by her sons, Tommy Grider and wife Sheri of Durant, Oklahoma and Jimmy Grider and wife Rhonda of Durant, Oklahoma; daughter, Kathy Whatley of Durant, Oklahoma; sister, Elizabeth Franks and husband Dan of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Jason Grider of Aubrey, Texas, Josh Grider of Aubrey, Texas, Stasha Whatley of Carrollton, Texas, Amanda Paddock of Allen, Texas, Jeremiah Grider of St. Louis, Missouri, Christina Grider of Frisco, Texas and Eric Grider of Frisco, Texas and five loving great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Grider was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Grider; parents, Issac and Zola Bardwell; brothers, Irlie Bardwell, Odis Bardwell and Leroy Bardwell; sisters, Ethel Kropp and Irene Grider.
Family Hour will be from 7-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel with Rev. Wanda Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Grider, Josh Grider, Jeremiah Grider, Eric Grider, Eric Paddock, J.D. Krupicka and Matt Hinchey.
