Wanda (Genell) Cook of Durant, Oklahoma was embraced by her Savior, on Wednesday May 24, 2017 at the age of 86 years 5 months and 22 days. She was born on December 2, 1930 in Roberta, Oklahoma to Lester and Wanda Louise (Williams) Barnes. Wanda married Leon Lewis Cook in Durant, Oklahoma in 1959.

Wanda was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She worked for Southwestern Bell, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and Texas Instruments. Wanda enjoyed a good book, challenging her mind with puzzle books, working outside in the garden, and cooking delicious meals for those she loved. The family would like to thank the staff of Four Season Nursing Home and Aspire Hospice for the loving care given to their mother.

Mrs. Cook is survived by her sons, Lewis Cook and wife Kellie of Chickasha, Oklahoma, and Robert Cook and wife Beth of Harrah, Oklahoma; grandsons, Kreig Cook of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Austin Cook of Adana, Turkey; sister-in-law, Gayle Barnes of Bennington, Oklahoma; and nephew, Phillip Barnes of Frisco, Texas.

Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Louise Barnes; and brother, Bill Barnes.

Family Hour will be from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday May 25th at the Holmes~Coffey~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A church service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday May 26th at the Calvary Baptist Church in Durant with Bro. Darel Bunch officiating.

Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Austin Cook, David Crowell, Kreig Cook, Mark Branscum, Richard Moseley, and Scott Moseley, and the honorary pallbearers are Bob Williams, Brad Williams, Brandon Williams, Phillip Barnes, William Crowell, Kenneth Crowell, Gabriel Barnes, Heath Moseley, James Branscum, Mary Jane Barnes, and Shea Barnes.
