Stacy Steve Burns, age 48, closed his eyes on May 23, 2018 at his home in Plano, Texas to get some sleep after being at the hospital awaiting his first grandchild’s birth. When he next opened his eyes he was looking at his beloved Jesus. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma. Pastor Monty Wood will officiate. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.

Stacy was born April 11, 1970 in Sherman, Texas to Sue Smith-Burns and Roger Burns. He graduated from Durant High School where he excelled in tennis and band. Stacy began his college education at Oklahoma University and completed it in his hometown at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree.

Stacy was employed at Capital One Corporation in Frisco, Texas where his hard work and quick mind earned him many accolades and advancements. He loved his job and the many friends he had there. Stacy had a deep love for his sons and his family. Anyone who knew him knew about his boys. His first grandchild, Elijah Stacy Burns, was born hours after Stacy’s passing. He was a proud and vocal Christian and loved his Lord. He was an avid OU football fan. He will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his never ending sense of humor, and his absolute love for life.

Stacy is survived by his three sons: His eldest son Austin and his wife, Gabrielle, his sons Hadyn and Tanner; his one grandchild, Elijah Stacy Burns; his mother, Sue Landtroop; his grandmother, Betty Colclazier; his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Burns; an infant son, Tyler Burns and his grandparents, Lonnie Burns, A J (Red) Smith and his beloved MamMa, Pauline Smith. His sons, Austin and Hadyn are honored to carry their father to the church along with pallbearers Jeff Burns, Ronnie Burns, Hunter Burkhalter and Robby Thompson.

Stacy will be missed every day until we see him again, but we take comfort knowing he is standing with Jesus and probably making him laugh. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
