Harold Ovoyde “H.O.” Boydstun, 91, died on May 18, 2014 of heart failure after a short illness. Born to Howard and R.V. (Shofner) Boydstun on April 19, 1923, he spent his childhood in Blue, Oklahoma and graduated from Blue High School in 1941. During World War II he served with the 94th Infantry in the Aleutian Islands. After his marriage to Wilma Shipman on June 7, 1952 at Blue Baptist Church, they established their home in Fort Worth, Texas, and had three children: Barbara, Jerry, and Billy.

Ovoyde retired from General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) after 30 years and moved to the family farm in Blue in 1986. He was an avid farmer and received great pleasure from working the soil, watching his crops grow and enjoying the harvest of his labor.

During a Revival at Blue Baptist Church in 1940 he professed his faith in Jesus Christ. After serving as an ordained deacon at First Baptist Church of White Settlement from 1956 until 1986, he and Wilma rejoined the church where they were married. He was a faithful member, serving as a deacon for 28 additional years.

He was preceded in death by Wilma, his wife of 58 years, his brothers Alton, Grady, J.T. (Hooks), Howard Jr., and infant twins.

He is survived by his sister, Chrystelle Roberts; his children: Barbara Thomason, Jerry and Renee Boydstun, Billy and Faye Boydstun; his grandchildren: Ryan and Kirsten Thomason, Aaron and Amy Thomason, Chris Boydstun, Mark and Missie Boydstun, and Caitlin Boydstun; great-grandchildren: Taylor, Dylan, and Thorin Thomason, Miley Boydstun, Mackenzie Smith, and Sawyer Boydstun: many nieces and nephews around the country: and innumerable friends.

Visitation with the family is Thursday, May 22, 2014, 7-8pm at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 N 5th St, Durant OK 74701. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Blue Baptist Church, 70 Berry Street, Durant,Oklahoma 74701.

Celebration of Life will be Friday, May 23, 2014 at 1pm at Blue Baptist Church, 70 Berry St, Durant OK 74701 (physical address is 8 miles East of Durant on Hwy 70) with interment at Highland Cemetery.
