Ludwig Von Weaver was born on the 19th of August 1935 in Durant, Oklahoma, and went to be with the Lord on the 15th of October 2018, at the age of 83 surrounded by the family who loved him dearly.

Von was the son of Melvin Paul and Lois Weaver. He lived in Durant until the age of 17 when he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force. He was a graduate of Durant High School, Southeastern State College, and Southwestern Theological Seminary.

Von was also 17 when he met a young Baptist preacher’s daughter, Anna Houstine Boydstun. He began attending church with her and made the decision to give his life to the Lord. However, because he had to report for basic training before his baptism, he was baptized by the chaplain at Lackland Air Force Base.

Von and Houstine were married on the 5th of June 1954 in Caddo and began their journey together at Webb Air Force Base, Big Springs, Texas. It was also there that Von surrendered his life to the gospel ministry.

Anyone who knew Von (Ludwig, Dad, G-Dad, Brother Von, or Uncle Von) knew that if he liked you, he teased you, and if he loved you, he tortured you. He loved fun whether it be pranks or games. He was forgiving, unless you were Jerry Jones and fired Tom Landry. Everyone in his congregations also knew that his sermons were cut short if there was a noon kickoff.

Von served in thirteen churches across three states. As a pastor, he was ahead of his time in many ways and wasn’t afraid to go against tradition, especially if the tradition was wrong. He was always authentic and real, and defended the defenseless and loved the unloveable.

Von was preceded in death by his beloved son, Kevin Von; his son-in-law, Don Hendrix; his parents; his parents in-law, Houston and Doris Boydstun; his baby sister, Sylvia Weaver; his sister, Linda McGuire; and his brother-in-law, Tommy Higle.

He is survived by his wife, Houstine of the home, his children, Sharon Hendrix of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Karen Featherston and husband Roger of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, Paul Weaver and wife Kim of Caddo, and daughter-in-law, Chris Weaver of Allen, Texas.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, April Hendrix Shearer and husband Alex of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Adam Hendrix and wife Lori of Sunnyvale, California, Ryan Weaver and wife Amanda of Salisbury, Maryland, Derick Weaver and wife Katie of Salisbury, Maryland, Kati Tollison and husband Josh of Benbrook, Texas, Callie Rainey and husband Tim of Seymour Johnson Air Force, North Carolina, Anna Featherston Hornbeck and husband Si of Springdale, Arkansas, Andrea Featherston McRae and husband Marc of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, Allie Featherston Watson and husband John David of Pisgah, Arkansas, Olivia and Kennedy Weaver of Caddo; his great-grandchildren Annie Shearer, Hadley and Coen Hendrix, Ryland and Rance Weaver, Jade and Pierce Weaver, Caroline Rainey, Ethan, Eli, and Riggins Hornbeck, Ashly, Lily, and Kinly McRae, and Jolee Watson.

He is also survived by his sisters, Eunice Dickinson and husband Joe, Jeannine Williams and husband Don, and Marilyn Miears and husband Larry; his brothers, Dennis Weaver and wife Lola, Steve Weaver, and brother-in-law, Tom McGuire; his sisters-in-law, Holland Boydstun Marich and husband Ronny, and Virginia Boydstun Higle; his brother-in-law, George Boydstun and wife Libby; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, October 18, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Caddo First Baptist Church with Skip Robinson, Joey Lansdale, and Jeremy Parham. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Caddo. Pallbearers will be the grandsons and grandsons-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to www.BeTheMatch.org, a national marrow donor program, whose mission is to deliver cures for blood cancers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Cunningham Funeral Home in Caddo, Oklahoma.
