Maurine Craghead

Maurine Craghead passed away on Friday, October 14, 2011 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years 4 months 2 days. She was born to Thomas and Wellthy (Wright) Craghead on Saturday, June 12, 1920 in Caddo, Oklahoma.

Maurine was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Caddo, Oklahoma. She was very talented and offered herself in service to her church by playing the organ and piano whenever needed. Maurine was a hard worker and was a clerk in a store at age 17, and later went on to be the owner and operator of Craghead's Store. She was interested in many things and because of this became a collector.

Ms. Craghead is survived by her nieces, Becky Hoppe and husband Gary of Northridge, California and Sienna Sawyer of Marina Del Ray, California; nephew, Tom Sawyer and wife Jane of Northridge, California; and other grand-nieces and nephews and many other family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Wellthy Craghead; sister, Junia Sawyer.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 15, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in Caddo, Oklahoma with Rev. Dewey Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery Caddo, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be members of the Church.
