Linda Kay Carter

Linda Kay Ellison Carter age 81, of Cartwright, Oklahoma departed her earthly life and entered the Gates of Heaven on September 21, 2023, in Denison, Texas. Linda was born on January 7, 1942, in Wapanucka, Oklahoma to JD and Zelma (Winberry) Ellison. Linda graduated from Colbert High School and later married Billy Glenn Carter. They would have celebrated 64 years together on December 12, 2023. Linda worked for Colbert school in administration for 53 years until her much deserved retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Colbert, and she enjoyed watching sports, cooking, traveling and loved attending her children's and grandchildren's events. Linda treasured her family and was an avid fan of the OU Sooners.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents JD and Zelma Ellison and brother Lonnie Ellison.

Loved ones left behind to continue her legacy are her husband Billy Carter of the home; daughters Kelly Carter of Colbert, OK, Kerri Hayes and husband Will of Frisco, TX and Karen Gooding and husband Miles of Calera, OK grandchildren Kolby Taylor, Karena Smith and husband Kevin, Blake Luther, Baylee Mills and husband Brandon, Kiley Hayes, and William Hayes; great grandchildren Noah Taylor, Isaiah Smith, Ella Smith, and Amelia Smith; brother Larry Ellison and wife Carolyn; chosen sister Wanda Williams of Colbert; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.

Funeral services to honor the life of Linda Kay Carter will be held at 2:30 PM Monday, September 25, 2023, at the Colbert High School auditorium. Pastor Wesley Schreier will officiate. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memory cemetery in Colbert with Will Hayes, Kolby Taylor, Blake Luther, Kevin Smith, William Hayes, Brandon Mills, and Noah Taylor serving as pallbearers.
