Dena Loucille Bowers Lyday was born on October 24, 1939 in Durant, Oklahoma to James Ervin and Lexia Ottinger Bowers. Dena entered the gates of Heaven on August 5, 2018 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 78.

Dena moved to Durant at the age of 14 and attended and graduated from Durant High School. She later married Elbert Lyday and he preceded her in death in 1997. Dena worked at Kings Daughters and Sons NC for 24 years as a nurse’s aid and later as a cook until her retirement in 2004. When her health would allow, she was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church. Dena enjoyed quilting and gardening and she dearly loved her family and friends.

Dena was preceded in death by her husband Elbert Lyday and parents, James and Lexia Bowers.

Dena is survived by her son, David Lyday and wife Donnie of Louisiana; sister, C. Elizabeth Page of Daisy, OK; step sons, Dale Lyday and wife Lynn and Danny Lyday and wife Charlotte; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Brown’s Funeral Service. Pastor Jimmy Moore will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 12-2 PM on Tuesday. A private burial will be at Cox’s Chapel Cemetery.
