Odell Rose

Odell Rose, a former resident of Bokchito, Oklahoma, passed away in Ft. Smith, Arkansas on Friday, August 24, 2012 at the age of 71 years 9 months and 13 days. He was born on Monday, November 11, 1940 in Bennington, Oklahoma to Roscoe and Essie (Gilcrease) Rose. Odell married Lavelle Fuller in Durant, Oklahoma on Friday, October 25, 1985.

Odell attended the Smithville Assembly of God Church. He was a trapper and bought and sold furs when he was a young man. Odell was a truck driver for Blackburn Trucking and owner and operator of Rose's Cabins and RV's. Odell enjoyed nature and loved to be outdoors fishing and hunting.

Mr. Rose is survived by his wife, Lavelle Rose of Smithville, Oklahoma; sons, Coy Highsaw of Ada, Oklahoma, Clint Tyson of Nashoba, Oklahoma, Ed Rose of Bokchito, Oklahoma and Mike Rose of Bokchito, Oklahoma; sister, Raynell Marlow of Bokchito, Oklahoma; step-children, Angela Mills of Tuskahoma, Oklahoma and Brandon Elmore of Boswell, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Essie Rose; son, Terry Dale Rose.

Family Hour will be from 7-8:00 P.M. on Monday, August 27, 2012 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Faith Baptist Church in Bokchito, Oklahoma with Rev. Jeff Mattox and Rev. Jerry Ford officiating. Interment will follow at Bokchito Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Don Lyles, Orville Thompson, Teddy Clements, John Roberts, Clinton Lee Tyson and Derrick Highsaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Ian Rose and Parker Tyson.
