Marilyn Ruth Slack Neal

Marilyn Ruth Neal, 74, of Morton, Texas, passed from this life on July 30, 2022. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 pm on October 17, 2022 at the Church of Christ in Bokchito with Reverend Dennis Neal officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Bokchito Cemetery.

She was born July 18, 1948 in Blair, Oklahoma, to Ed and Wanda Slack. Marilyn started her career in Extention with OSU Cooperative Extention Service in Durant with the WIC program then to Atoka as Home Economic Agent where she worked Ag Agent Grant Praytor. She retired from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension in Bonham, TX.

Marilyn dedicated her life to serving others and giving back to her community.

After retirement, Marilyn and Dan moved to Idaho where she had a catering business and volunteered countless hours to the VFW serving as President of the VFW Auxiliary for the Department of Idaho. She took it a step further in the VFW by becoming the Auxiliary President of the VFW Western Conference. Marilyn had a great love for people and wanting success for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ed Slack; mother, Wanda Slack; and granddaughter, Callie Jean.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Dan Neal; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Chris DeFrancisco; son and daughter-in-law, John and Christina Neal; grandchildren, Mary DeFrancisco, Anna DeFrancisco, Kay Hardin and Briana Seigler; and great grandchildren, Roxanne Seigler and Callie Grace Trinidad.
