James Howard Percell, 79, a longtime resident of Bryan County (Brown and Bennington, OK) passed away at home with his daughters at his side and joined his Savior on January, 9, 2018. James was born on July 23, 1938 in Bennington, OK to John Alford Percell and Mattie Tuttle Percell. He attended school at White Sand, and graduated from Bennington School.

After moving back to Bryan County, he served the community as an officer for many years with the Bryan County Sheriff Department, Choctaw County Sheriff Department, and the Town of Boswell.

James treasured being outdoors, and loved to coon hunt with family and friends. He was President of the Blue River CB Club. He enjoyed the hilarious working of goats with his grandchildren. He would listen if you had a problem, give you his honest advice, as well as a “piece of his mind” sometimes whether you wanted to hear it or not. His family loved him very much. He was a good man to all, and a great man to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings: Genette Chappell, Jerline Hobbs, Curtis Ray Percell, John Alford Percell Jr., Emmagene Faye Schmidt, Ottis Levern Percell, Kennith Percell, and Iona Percell.

Great Grandchildren: Treylin Henderson; Landon Cypert; Jude Seay; Jadyn Eastwood; KaseLee Adair; Elaina Percell; Travis Adair; T’Lynn Adair; and, Kevin Whitmire.

Wife: Doris Cress Percell of Boswell, OK.

Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and dear friends.

A celebration of James’ life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 12, 2018 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Monty Wood officiating. Interment will follow in Bennington Cemetery with Mindy Whitmire, Derrick Whitmire, Justin Eastwood, Chris Eastwood, Matthew Percell, Clayton Childree, TJ Childree, and J’Lyn Adair serving as pallbearers.
