James (Jimmy) V. Hollingsworth, Sr., 83, passed peacefully at home Sunday, February 25, 2018, in Bennington, OK.

Jimmy was born February 7, 1935, to Ivy Lee and Leola (Kinser) Hollingsworth, in Spicewood, TX. He was the youngest of five children, and their only son. Jimmy graduated from Bennington High School. He married Mary Joy Folsom December 28, 1954, and they had three children. He was a lifelong avid hunter and outdoorsman. After high school, he worked in various jobs. He owned a gas station in Ft. Worth, TX, was a delivery driver for Potter’s Sausage Company, and worked at Johns Manville until the plant closed. He then went to work for Plyler Construction where he worked until retirement. After retirement, he became interested in trail rides and building chuck wagons. He built several of them between retirement and the time Parkinson’s disease took its toll.

He is survived by daughters Gay Williams and Kay Johnson, both of Bennington, OK, and son James (Jim) Hollingsworth, Jr., Bennington, OK; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; sister Dorothy Glenn, Kingsland, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Reba, Gladys, and Hilda; his wife Joy; and grandson Joshua Ross Hollingsworth.

Joe Harp, William McGee, Franklin Jones, Michael Folsom, Ben Mooney, and Sam Gill will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Roger Speers will officiate. All services will be held at Brown’s Funeral Service, Durant, OK. Family night is Thursday, March 1, 2018, 6 p.m.-8 p.m. A luncheon will be held Friday, March 2, 2018, at 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m.
