BISON - The funeral for Doris Weigand, 81 will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Union Chapel Church. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Okeene under the Direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey. Published in Enid News & Eagle 


The funeral for Doris Weigand, 81 will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday March 14, 2018 at Union Chapel Church officiated by Rev. Duane Roever. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Okeene under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. 

Doris was born at Lucien on January 18, 1937 to Orel D. and Nadine Webb Hixon and died Friday March 9, 2018 at St. Marys Regional Hospital in Enid. 

Doris graduated from Hennessey High School in 1955 and was valedictorian of her class. She married Thomas Weigand in Okeene on March 10, 1979. The couple made their home in Bison. Doris was a member of Union Chapel Church and sang in the choir. 

She is survived by her husband Thomas of the home; two sons David Edwards and wife Sharon of Azle, Texas, Steven Lee Edwards of Bison; one daughter Lori Anne Unruh of Waukomis; one step-daughter Angela Holsten of Enid; two sisters Sharon Dodson and husband Johnny of Valley Springs, California, Jan Osland and husband Walter of Bison; two grandchildren Jason Unruh and Natalie Holsten. 

Doris was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Robert Hixon. 

Memorial donations may be made in her name to Our Daily Bread with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
