ENID, Okla. — OKEENE — Funeral service for Archie Earl Weber will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Okeene United Methodist Church, with Rev. Devon Krause officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Okeene. Memories may be shared with the family at www.lanmanmemorials.com.

Archie Weber was born in Okeene on June 24, 1926, the son of Willie and Hannah Spring Weber and passed from this life on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in Okeene.

Before he finished high school, Archie entered the United States Navy and served his country from Nov. 15, 1944, until June 29, 1946. He attained the rank of Seaman First Class V-6 and served on NTC and NSD, San Diego, California Naval Station Navy 3149. While in the United States Navy, he received the Victory Medal and Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal.

After being discharged he went back home and graduated from Okeene High School in 1947, then went to college at Oklahoma State University before transferring to Cameron College in Lawton, where he played football.

Archie and Julia Mae Marcotte were married Aug. 12, 1950, in Zimmer, La.

They returned to Okeene, where Archie farmed and ranched and worked for Southard Gypsum Plant for 33 years. He retired from USG in 1987, but continued farming and ranching on the family farm and playing golf.

He was a life member of Partners of Golf and the Hole-in-One Club and played with USG until the summer of 2012. He had three holes-in-one and had won numerous other golf awards. Archie was a life member of American Legion and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of Okeene United Methodist Church, where he was still singing in the choir and participating in the activities of the United Methodist Men’s group.

Archie was a huge Okeene Whippet fan and supporter as well as an avid OU fan. He had season tickets for 30 plus years and had attended the Bedlam 2012 game.

Those who have preceded him in death are his wife, Julia; one sister, Elma; and four brothers, Benny, Lester, Alfred and Danny.

Those left to cherish Archie’s memory are his children and their families: Bobby and Pat of Okeene and their children, Diah and Craig Jantzen and family, Braeden and Jarrett of Bridgecreek, Traci and Chad Pavlicek and their family, Austyn, Clay and Baylee of Chandler, and LJ and Rhianon Dull and their son, Jackson of Del City; Ricky of Norman and his children, Eric of Norman and Paige of Houston, Texas; Brenda and Tim Burghardt of Okeene and their children, Savannah and boyfriend, Brandon of Weatherford and Tyler and fiancee, Brooke of Hennessey; Mark and his girlfriend, Tonya of Okeene and her children, Ali of Edmond and Aaron of Okeene; one brother, Tom and his wife Sue of Enid; one sister, Sylvia Ladwig of Oklahoma City; as well as his 23-year companion, Leola Boyd of Okeene.

Memorials may be made to Okeene United Methodist Church or Veterans of Foreign Wars through the funeral home.
