Marlyss Patzkowsky passed from this earthly life and boarded the train to heaven to meet her Lord and Savior Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at the Okeene Hospital, at the age of 87. Marlyss was born Nov. 20, 1921, to John C. and Martha Wahl Neufeld.

She attended Model School and Liberty School and graduated from Okeene High School in 1939. She married Arlo Patzkowsky on Dec. 13, 1941. Marlyss worked at the Major County court house in Fairview until Arlo returned from World War II. They lived on a farm southwest of Okeene, and in 1981, moved to Okeene.

Marlyss was a homemaker. She delighted in cooking for her family and friends. Making delicious pies and delivering them to friends and occasions was a true act of love and kindness. Considering others first brought much happiness to her. Her hobbies included camping at Roman Nose, fishing and making crocheted items for her family.

A true highlight of her life was her grandchildren. Spending time with them and watching them grow up was a wonderful blessing. She also had the special joy of two great-grandchildren she totally adored. She leaves to her family a legacy of love, patience, kindness and generosity.

Marlyss was saved and baptized at an early age and was a member of the Okeene Mennonite Brethren Church.

Marlyss is survived by her husband of 67 years, Arlo; son, Rudy and wife, Verla Patzkowsky, and daughter, Jana and husband, Ted Schultz, all of Okeene; grandchildren, Bruce and Julie Schultz; and great-grandchildren, Abbie and Alec Schultz of Tulsa, Andrea and Carissa Patzkowsky of Oklahoma City, Brandon Schultz and Brada and Donny Unruh of Okeene.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Eugene Neufeld.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at the First Baptist Church of Okeene with Rev. Bennet Peters and Bruce Schultz officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery with Wilkinson Mortuary of Okeene in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Okeene Ambulance fund, Okeene Hospital, Okeene Hospital Foundation or the Okeene Mennonite Brethren Church.
