Willis Earl Geis

ENID - Willis Earl Geis, 73, of Okeene, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011. Willis was born Dec. 13, 1937, in Okeene to William and Hannah Laubach Geis.

He graduated from Okeene High School in 1956 and attended OSU, where he received his bachelor of science degree in animal husbandry in 1961.

After college graduation, Willis enlisted in the U.S. Army.

On Dec. 28, 1962, he married the love of his life, Betty Huebert, and together they had two children.

Willis was a lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church in Okeene, where he served as church moderator, deacon, Sunday school teacher and song leader. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; one son, Lynn; one daughter, Lori; one brother, Weldon and wife Barbara; two nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Willis was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Maxine Davidson; and one sister-in-law, Jane Geis.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Zion Baptist Church with burial to follow in Roselawn Cemetery . Mark Lilly and Monte Michaelson will officiate with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Okeene. Viewing 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today with family present from 7-8 p.m.

Memorials may be given to Okeene Public Schools, music department, the ag department or Zion Baptist Church through the funeral home.
