Verda L (Cox) Church
May 22, 1917 ~ February 04, 2020

Funeral services for Verda L Church, 102, of Homestead, will be 2 pm, Saturday, February 8, at Homestead Bible Church, with burial in the Homestead Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Verda L. Church passed from this life to her heavenly home on February 4, 2020. She was born on May 22, 1917 in Longdale, OK to Thomas Eugene Cox and Lula Pearl (Sickles) Cox. Verda graduated from Longdale High School in 1935 and went on to study Home Economics at Oklahoma A&M College. During her time in college, Verda was crowned Aggie Princess.

She became an accomplished seamstress, who later did sewing and alterations for many in the area. After her freshman year of college, she met Robert Glen Church. She and Glen were married in 1937. They had two children Larry Glen and Donna Dean. Verda and Glen enjoyed traveling and after his passing, she enjoyed taking many tours and trips with friends. She also enjoyed listening to Glen play the trombone in the CC's Dance Band from Longdale. Verda and Glen lived in Aline for a time, then on a farm in Homestead, and then in Fairview. Finally, they built the home west of Homestead where Verda lived until her death.

Verda's great joy in her later years was watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren in their school activities and sports. She was an avid sports fan and mostly enjoyed the Dallas and OSU Cowboys. Verda was also a painter and gifted many people with her paintings. She was a much-loved mother and grandmother, and while she will be greatly missed, we rejoice that she could join her loved ones in heaven.

Verda was preceded in death by her husband in 1991 and daughter Donna in 1999 and one brother.

She is survived by her son Larry and wife Carol; grandson Scott Church and wife Natalie; grandson Craig Church and wife Jamie; granddaughter Amy Haney and husband Ryan; grandson Branden Montgomery and wife Courtney; and nine great grandchildren, Will & Weston Church, Grant & Jenna Church, Wyatt and Colton Haney, and Jackson, Kallen & Grayson Montgomery.
