Lavetia Beatrice Hooten

July 22, 1895 ~ 1980

Canton – Lavetia Beatrice Hooten, 84, died early Monday at her home near Canton. Her service will be at 10 AM today in the First Christian Church at Canton with the Rev. Bob Chatham officiating. Burial will follow in the Geary Cemetery at Geary under direction of Haigler Funeral Home, Canton.

The body will lie in state at the church from 9 to 10 AM with the casket to remain closed following the service.

Mrs. Hooten was born July 22, 1895, in Morgan County, Missouri, and moved to Oklahoma at an early age with her family. They settled in the Watonga area. She married Lawrence Edgar Hooten December 15, 1917, at Watonga, and had been a resident of Canton the past 35 years. He died in 1956.

Survivors include four sons, Keith Hooten, Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, Lloyd and Boyd Hooten, both of Canton, and Bud Hooten, Oklahoma City; one daughter, Mrs. Laverta Markes, Canton; one sister, Lillian Paden, Canton; one brother, John Williams, Armona, California; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great – grandchildren.
