Woodward, Okla. — Donald A. Bishop, 73 year old Woodward resident, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at his home south of Woodward. Family will receive friends at Billings Funeral Home in Woodward on Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A graveside funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, east of Watonga, Oklahoma with the Reverend Jason Dirks officiating. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Donald Allen Bishop was born on January 16, 1938 in Drumright, Oklahoma to James Edward and Sybil Clare (Campbell) Bishop. He was inducted into the United States Air Force in 1955 and served his country as a Airman 2ndClass until he was honorably discharged in 1963. Donald was reared in Oklahoma City and attended Capital Hill High School. He was united in marriage to Georgia Nelson on September 4, 1975 in Oklahoma City. They made their home in Oklahoma City before moving to Woodward. Donald worked for Hodges Trucking until his retirement.

Donald enjoyed gardening, yard work and he loved being with his family.

He is survived by his wife Georgia Bishop of the home; their sons, James Bishop, Dale Bishop and wife Michelle, Mike Sanders, Abner Sanders and wife Dorrie, Lawrence Sanders, Shane Sanders, their daughters, Dawn Ellen Weber and husband Kirk, Denae Chisum and husband Scott, Patty Patty and husband Greg, Alison Cusenbary; one sister Cheryl Teel; 28 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sybil and Jim Bishop, his first wife, Mary Bishop and a sister Donna Farrell.
