Walt Richter
(March 12, 1943 - May 10, 2011)

Walter Joe Richter was born on March 12, 1943 at Fairview, OK to Elmer and Mary (Brandon) Richter. He entered rest on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Canton, OK. Walt attended school at Fairview and joined the U.S. Army. He worked in the oilfield for 44 years for several companies, including Pearson, Suits, Unit, Bonray, Nomac and Patterson. He worked as a roughneck, driller, toolpusher and drilling superintendant. He worked all over Western Oklahoma, and while working in China, the natives called him "Captain Walt". Walt was preceded in death by his parents; wife Eunice “Peggy” Richter; daughter Kimmie Vandemark; grandson Treyton Goddard; Survivors include his lady friend of 34 years, Judy Gallo; son Jerry Joe Richter of OKC, OK; daughter Vickie Richter Follis and husband Jessie of Longdale, OK; step-sons, Vernon Gallo and Michael Gallo both of Canton, OK and David Gallo of Perry, OK; brother Shirley Ray Richter of Seneca, MO; sister Sheila Warner and husband George of Billings, OK; sister Lavera Jones of Yukon, OK; brother Jerry Don Richter of Erick, OK and sister Marilyn Richter of Enid, OK; grandchildren Colleen Follis Dossey, Jessie Lynn Follis, Josie Dawn Follis, Nancy Richter, Warren Monego and Anthony Monego; great-grandchildren Jordan Dossey, Aleczandria Goddard and Camden Dossey; A graveside committal will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2011 in Canton Cemetery with Elder Pete Herod officiating.
