Rosine Reay

The funeral for Rosine Reay, 91, of Canton, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church of Canton. The Revs. James Frank Mitchell and Bob Barr will officiate. Burial will be in Can
ton Cemetery. Arrangements are by Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton.

She was born June 25, 1915, west of Canton to William and Alice Rogers Tate and died Monday, March 5, 2007, in Fairview.

She graduated from Con 6 school in 1932 and attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University. She moved to California for a brief time in 1941. She married Lee Joe Reay Oct. 1, 1941, in Enid. They moved to a farm in Dewey County and farmed and raised cattle. He died Aug. 28, 1978. She graduated from beauty school and earned her beautician’s license. She opened Rosine’s Beauty Shop in 1954. She retired in 1980. She was recognized as Canton’s Citizen of the Year in 1997. She was past president of Iris Garden Club and was a member of Canton Chamber of Commerce. She served on the senior citizens board for 18 years. She worked on Canton Cemetery Committee, ambulance board and Walleye Rodeo Committee. She was a member of United Methodist Church of Canton where she served on the church board and church parsonage board. She was a past matron of Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, five sisters and one brother.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Canton United Methodist Church.
