Funeral services for Joyce Marie Jantzen, 80, of Canton, Oklahoma will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the Canton Christian Church with Jim McGinn officiating. Interment will follow in Canton Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton.

Joyce Marie Jantzen was born September 28, 1938 at Granite, Oklahoma to Thomas Harold and Lucille (Fitzpatrick) Coffman. She departed this life Tuesday evening, August 20, 2019 at Fairview, Oklahoma.

Joyce was raised in Texas, Altus, Granite and graduated High School at Fort Towson, Oklahoma. She picked cotton as a child and helped her father on the farm. Joyce said she didn't cry the first day of school, she loved learning and loved all her teachers. When she was nine years old she went to Carlsbad Caverns with her school. Joyce missed a lot of school as a child, she had her appendix removed when she was in the first grade, and about a week later she got the measles. Before she recovered from the measles she had scarlet fever. She didn't fully recover until school was out in May. In the fifth grade her temperature got up to 106 degrees and she was in the hospital for 16 days. This was in November and she didn't return to school until January. After high school her plans were to study home economics and teach home economics. She was the Blaine County 4-H leader and the Blaine County Extension Agent. Joyce and her family made many trips to Canton, Texas to acquire antiques for all of her craft projects. She taught math and english in Cushing and Freedom, Oklahoma. Joyce married Theodore "Teddy" Jantzen on October 28, 1966 at Roman Nose Lodge near Watonga. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter Susan Joyce Jantzen; one brother, Tom Coffman; She is survived by her husband Theodore "Teddy" Jantzen of the home; daughter Dawn Gambill and husband Darrin of Canton; grandchildren Hadley Gambill and wife Morgan, Rhett Gambill, Dawson Gambill and Ashton Gambill; great-grandson Hank Conrad Gambill; two sisters, Ann Vitosh and Beth Czaplinski both of Ark City, Kansas; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Canton/Longdale Ambulance Service through the funeral home at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724.
