MARY ELLEN FARREN


The funeral service for Mary Ellen Farren, 77, former resident of Canton, Oklahoma, was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Canton Christian Church with Brian Gaddy officiating.

Interment followed in Canton Cemetery under the direction of Haigler -Pierce Funeral Home , Canton, Oklahoma.

Mary was born on August 18, 1932 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Albert Leroy and Lillian Violet (Bain) Richardson- McClendon.

She departed this life on Monday evening, April 19, 2010 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Mary married James Cecil Mariott on September 14, 1946 and three girls were born to this union.

On November 22, 1953 she married Emmett Farren and five children were born in this marriage, three girls and two boys.

Mary lived in Houston, Texas for two years, and moved to Alva, for two years before moving to Canton, in 1968. Mary worked as a waitress in Oklahoma City for twenty years, John A. Brown for five years, cowboy hat factory in Houston, Texas for one year, book binder shop in Houston, Texas, for one year, straw factory in OKC for one year, dry cleaner in OKC for one year, baby sitting in Canton for four years and nurse's aide in Okeene for five years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Emmett Farren, son, Robert Wayne Farren, great-granddaughter, Chesney Rae Starks, brother, Donald Richardson and sister, Betty Wesloick.

Survivors include seven children, daughter, Donna Rhodes and husband Andrew of Alva, daughter, Betty Rhodes and husband Randy of Alva, daughter Dorothy Clymer and husband Bill of Oklahoma City, son, Lawrence Farren and wife Beverly of Cresson, Texas, daughter, Margaret Mosqueda of Edmond, daughter, Teresa Hammond and husband Dwayne of Georgia and daughter, Rena Chaisson and husband Julius of Morgan City, Louisiana; brother, Albert Leroy "Bud" Richardson of Lone Wolf, sister, Minnie Woods of Houston, Texas; sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724 to the Alzheimer's Association.
