John Wallace Caywood

John Wallace Caywood
October 5, 1935 ~ December 13, 2017

John Wallace Caywood, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. John was born on October 5th, 1935 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late Lester Leroy Caywood and Mildred Beatrice "Billie" (Rynearson) Caywood. He married Betty Mae Tice on January 19th, 1957. John spent most of his time operating the family farm and ranch. His heart was always in the horse industry. Throughout his life he spent time in the arena, on the race track, and in the show ring. He trained many cutting and racing horses. He traveled many miles hauling his kids to rodeos, barrel races, and stock shows.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jerry, brother Joe, and grandson Cody Williams.

John is survived by his loving wife Betty Mae; daughter Julie Foreman and her husband Dick of Oaks, Oklahoma, son Bill Caywood of Guthrie, Oklahoma, daughter Charity Van Meter and Paul Esquibel of Alva, Oklahoma, and daughter Sue Hull of Okarche, Oklahoma; Also surviving are his grandchildren Brandon (wife Amy) Williams, Adam (wife Miriah) Williams, Chase (wife Angie) Caywood, Megan (husband Owen) Cooper, Nikki (husband Jerimee) Troung, Joni VanMeter, Lexi Williams, Whitney Williams, Stetson Williams, Morgan Williams, Tal Williams, and Cydnie Hull; great grandchildren, Jennica, Macie, Paisley, Katie, Dally, Logan, Abbie, Dominik, Gwinny, Hayden, and Ryan.

John was an active member of his community. He was a member of the Canton Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. John attended the Canton First United Methodist Church where he served his church as chairman of the administrative board for many years. Mr. Caywood was a founding member of the Canton Saddle Club and was a pretty darn good gate man. John was also a supporter of the Canton FFA Ag Boosters.

Funeral services will be at the Canton First United Methodist Church on Monday, December 18th, at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Daniel Hammans officiating. John will be laid to rest at the Canton Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Oklahoma FFA Foundation with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724.
