Alvadean Bond
(July 27, 1934 - June 29, 2016)

Alvadean Gilbert Bond was born July 27, 1934 one mile east of Ft. Cantonment to Mike and Edna (Morris) Bond. Alvadean lived an exciting 81 years and passed to his Heavenly home on June 29, 2016. He attended Royal Con 6 School before attending Canton Schools where he graduated in 1952. He met the love of his life, Doris Jane Edwards of Seiling, on a blind date and they were married on April 5, 1953.

They moved west of Canton and began farming. Of this union two children were born, Michael Dean and Steven Gilbert. Alvadean and Doris spent 51 wonderful years together before Doris passed away in 2004. Alvadean also worked for Dean Rogers who owned Rogers Butane. They moved to their home in Canton, Oklahoma, and in 1964 Alvadean and Doris purchased Rogers Butane and changed the name to Bond Butane. They operated the business until 1997 when they sold it. During the time they owned Bond Butane, they continued to farm and also went into the banking business where Alvadean was chairman of the board of directors up until his passing.

Alvadean had a driving record of no accidents from 1952-1997 while he was hauling and delivering propane fuel. He has served on the town council, was a retired fireman of 20 years of service, a past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star, a Rainbow dad for two years and a past Master of the Canton Masonic Lodge. Alvadean was baptized at a young age and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Canton.

Alvadean loved the land and worked all his life on the farm raising wheat and cattle. He also loved horses, riding and attending horse sales. He worked his first harvest driving the combine at 8 years old and continued to harvest every year after. He drove the combine for his last harvest in 2015 at the age of 80.

Alvadean loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. He was a huge supporter and watched them play countless football and basketball games whether they were players or coaches. He loved his days working on the farm with Bode, Steve and Mike. Many hours were spent bickering with Bode as they were always teasing and jabbing one another. Everyone around knew Alvadean from his ornery smile, playful jabs and his pocket full of candy he was always so eager to share.

Alvadean leaves behind an everlasting legacy in his two sons, Mike Bond and his wife Joyce, and Steve Bond and his wife Pam, all of Canton, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Kelsi and her husband Josh Musick of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Kenzi and her husband Trevor Meier of Mustang, Oklahoma, and Bode and his wife Joni Bond of Canton, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren Keenan, Amaria, Maddox and Titus Musick and Tinley and Kellan Meier; his sister Darlene and her husband James Kennedy of Canton, Oklahoma; his brother-in-law Waylon Edwards of Canton, Oklahoma and many other family members and friends. Alvadean is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Doris Bond; his parents Mike and Edna Bond, and his sister Emagene Burch.
