Sylvester F. Boeckman

Sylvester F. Boeckman
December 31, 1934 ~ February 28, 2023

Sylvester F. Boeckman was born on December 31, 1934, in Okeene, OK to Frederick John and Ida (Huhmann) Boeckman. He passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at the age of 88. He was a resident of the Okeene community all his life. He was a farmer and a carpenter. After his retirement, he enjoyed tinkering in his workshop and making birdhouses. Like most farmers, Sylvester enjoyed driving through the country, especially to check on his farms.

He graduated from Okeene High School, following which he joined the United States Army and served for two years. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He married Mary Agnes Schaefer in Okarche, OK on November 27, 1965.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Louis, Albert, and Joe, a sister, Alberta Boeckman and a half brother, John Boeckman.

Sylvester is survived by his wife of 57 years, Agnes, of the home in Okeene, his son Nick Boeckman and his wife Sandy of Okeene and daughter, Lisa Carney and husband Denzil of Stillwater, OK. He is also survived by a sister, Amelia Bingham of Geary, OK and his six “buddies” (his grandsons) Rylan Carney (Abby), Kyler Carney, Tyan Carney, Bryden Carney, Preston Boeckman, and Pryce Boeckman, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

It was Sylvester’s wish to be cremated; there will be no viewing. The Most Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:00 am on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Okeene, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am with Father Jarek Topolewski presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at Okeene with Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Memoial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Building Fund or CompleteOK Hospice with Wilkinson Mortuary acting as custodian of the funds.
