Virginia (Sis or Gini) was born during the dark hours of the Great Depression. Her mother and siblings were brought to California aboard a train from dust bowl era Oklahoma during the extensive "Okie migration" in 1936 six months after her father, Uly found work in the Los Angeles area. Soon thereafter her father moved and settled the family in Shafter, California in 1937. She attended all the Shafter schools. She moved around California and Arizona from time to time, raised a family and lived mostly in Kern County, California until 1996 when she moved to Fresno, California. While working for the Department of Food and Agriculture until she retired in October of 2003. She stated less than one week ago how she loved working at DFA and really missed her co-workers. She had an excellent sense of humor and was very funny. Country music was her favorite. She was an avid reader of books and crossword puzzle solver.
