Thomas Marion "T.M." Daniel, 79, of Amarillo died Monday, May 6, 2002.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church Chapel with the
Rev. Roy Kornegay, director of missions at Amarillo Baptist Association, and
the Rev. Freddie Richardson, pastor of Souls Harbor Church, officiating. Burial
will be in Llano Cemetery with Military Honors by DAV Chapter 26.
Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle.
Mr. Daniel was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Shamrock, to Thomas Luther Daniel
and Yuba Sadler Daniel. He married Mary Estelle Roden in October 1942 at
Sayre, Okla.
During World War II, he served in the Army as a tank commander in the
782nd Battalion, 97th Infantry, D Company - George S. Patton's Third Army.
After the war, he worked for Lonestar Gas in Shamrock, Shamrock Oil and
Gas in Dumas and later worked in Amarillo for 28 years with McPherson Tire
and Auto as the garage manager, until his retirement.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Dumas Masonic Lodge and a
lifetime member of American Legion and VFW in Amarillo.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Denise Hill of Corpus Christi; a son,
Tom Daniel of Rawlins, Wyo.; a sister, Clifteen Hiett of Tulia; four
grandchildren, Kristi, Matt, John and Noah; and four great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, 600 W. 11th
Ave., Amarillo, TX 79101; or First Baptist Church Building Fund, 13th Avenue
and Tyler Street, Amarillo, TX 79101.
The family will be at 5107 Chisholm.
