Lucia L. Lummus

SUNRAY - Lucia L. Lummus, 88, died Friday, June 28, 2002.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Sunray Baptist Church with her brother, the Rev. Calvin Beach, of Royce City, and the Rev. Philip Hilton, pastor of Sunray Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Lummus was born July 27, 1913, in Wellington. She was a member of the Parkside Baptist Church in Denison. She married Waddie Lummus on Dec. 31, 1931, in Sayre, Okla. He died in 1981.
She was very active in the Sunray Baptist Church. She was a Dumas resident since January of this year prior to Denison for five years. She was a former longtime Sunray resident for more than 50 years.
"I've pressed on toward the goal to win the prize for which God promised. God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus and I am home."
She was preceded in death by eight sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include a son, Bill Lummus of Dumas; three daughters, Jeanette Anderson and Sandy Lummus, both of Dumas, and Shirley Beard of Denison; a brother, Calvin Beach of Royce City; a sister, Lora Warren of Westminster, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will be at 606 Melinda Lane in Dumas.
The family suggests memorials be to Sunray Baptist Church building fund, P.O. Box 550, Sunray, TX 79086.
