Clyde "Lee" Ford

Clyde "Lee" Ford, 63, of Amarillo died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with Joe Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church of Shamrock, and Charlie Floyd, pastor of First Baptist Church of Texola, Okla., officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock with military rites by the Army.
Mr. Ford was born in Texola. He moved to Amarillo in 1985 from Colorado Springs, Colo. He served in the Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He retired from the Army as a captain in 1980 after 23 years of service.
After his retirement from the Army, he worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service Ross Street Station. He was a life member and past commander of the VFW Post No. 1475. He was also a member of American Legion, DAV, VVA and Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association. He married Carmen Newman in 1961 at Wheeler.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karen Orthengren and husband, Alan, of Amarillo; a sister, Jurl Dene Roberts of Shamrock; two brothers, Bennie Ford of Wheeler and Earl Ford of Clarendon; and two grandsons, Corey Orthengren and Trey Orthengren, both of Amarillo.
The family suggests memorials be to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1475; or Veteran Affairs Medical Center.
