CHEYENNE, Okla. - Elmer Griffin, 94, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home Chapel in Erick with Elder T.J. Pittman officiating. Burial will be in Erick Cemetery.
Mr. Griffin was born in Oklahoma Territory. He spent his early life in the Jester community and attended school in Jester and Erick. In 1917, he moved with his parents south of Erick, where they established the Griffin Farm.
He attended business college in Abilene.
He married Alma Elizabeth Fowler in 1927 at Wellington, Texas. They established their home south of Erick, where they were active in farming. Mr. Griffin owned the Griffin farm for nearly 80 years. He retired from farming in 1968 but continued to be a handyman and carpenter.
Mr. Griffin spent a short time working in an arsenal in Benicia, Calif., during World War II. He was a member of Erick Primitive Baptist Church.
Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his wife.
Survivors include a daughter, Helen Allen of Perryton; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
