PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Charles G. Cantrell, 88, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002.
Services were at Palm Springs Mortuaries with the Rev. Coppersmith of Palm Springs officiating. Entombment was in Palm Springs Mausoleum in Cathedral City.
Mr. Cantrell was born Oct. 26, 1913, in Memphis, Texas, son of Glenn and Ovilla Cantrell. He graduated from Shamrock, Texas, High School in 1933, and attended North Texas A&M in Arlington, Texas, before settling in
Shamrock.
He was a member of Wheeler County Sheriff's Posse and was parade marshal several years for the St. Patrick's Day Celebration. He lived 46 years in the Shamrock area as a farmer, rancher and businessman.
He lived several years in Ruidoso, N.M., and settled in Palm Springs in 1970. He retired from full-time employment at age 80.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ann Cantrell; his parents; and three brothers, Travis Cantrell, Billy Cantrell and Bill Cantrell.
Survivors include two daughters, Rose Ann Steiner of Arroyo Grande and Linda Cantrell of Seattle; a son, Lewis "Burly" Cantrell of Highland; three grandchildren, Scott Steiner, Eric Steiner and Adam Braham; two
great-grandchildren, Jake Steiner and Justine Steiner; and a sister, Ruth Dugger
of Elk City, Okla.
