William Carroll "Bill" Swart, Sr.

W. C. "Bill" Swart, Sr. was born December 22, 1927 in Mayfield, Oklahoma, and passed away August 4, 1990 in the Sayre Memorial Hospital at the age of 62 years, 7 months and 13 days.

Bill, the son of John Rhinehart and Vera Ella Swart, lived in the Mayfield and Berlin communities before marrying Martha Jo Williams, April 21, 1952 in Clinton, oklahoma and they moved to Sayre to make their home. Gill worked at Brickell's Ice Plant for 12 years and was employed with the Oklahoma State Highway Department for 20 years. He also served on the Sayre Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years and wasw considered a good friend by those who knew him.

He was a member of Sayre Church of the Nazarene.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons, 1 grandson, 4 brothers and 1 sister.

He is survived by his wife, Martha, of the home; 3 daughters Veva Delle Jackson, Winnie Vear Bashaw, both of Sayre, Alice Udene Steward of Clinton, Arkansas; 2 sons, Carl Dean of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; William Carrol, Jr. of Sayre, Okalhoma 4 sisters, Ruth Hinchey of Erick, Oklahoma; Norma McDow of Arapaho, Oklahoma; Emma Penner, also of Arapaho, Oklahoma, Mary Ann Campbell of Wellston, Oklahoma; 5 brothers, John, Davis, Leo, Frank, LeRoy and Robert all of Sayre; 15 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services was Monday, August 6, 1990 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lone Oak Baptist Church with Ray Smart and Floyd Courney officiating. Burial was in the Lone Oak Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
