Dean Shelton

Dean Shelton was born August 13, 1930 in Butler, Oklahoma and passed away November 10, 1991 in the Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 61 years, 2 months and 28 days.

Dean, the son of Bud and Lilly Mae Shelton was raised in the Butler and Clinton communities.

On June 17, 1951 he married Clara Bell Faye Griffin in Arapaho, Oklahoma, and they lived in Wyoming before moving to Sayre in 1952 to make their home.

Faye preceded him in death in September of 1983.

On January 19, 1985 he married Alice Lorene Flowers in Sayre, Oklahoma, and they continued to make Sayre their home since that time.

Dean had been co-owner of Shelton and Patterson Ditching Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; two sons; two brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by three 3 daughters, Susie McSperit of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Vonda Sue McSperitt of Reydon, Oklahoma; Vicki Dawn Dye of Sayre, Oklahoma; three step-daughters; three sons, Billie Dean, Richie Lee, Donald Wayne, all of Sayre, Oklahoma; six step-sons; two sisters, Thelma Willis of Foss, Oklahoma; Irene Spaulding of Golden, Colorado; five brothers, Leonard of Clinton, Oklahoma; John of Bakersfield, California; C. A. Glasscock of Elk City, Oklahoma; Bobby Glasscock of Amarillo, Texas; Lowell Glasscock of Custer, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Wednesday November 13, 1991 at the Sayre First United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Ray Smart officiating.

Interment was in the Lone Oak Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Sayre.
