Nell Jane Tennery was born January 13,1946 in Winslow, Arizona to Nellie Chloe and Clarence Earl Tennery. She passed away August 17, 2017 at Erick, Oklahoma at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 4 days.

Nell Jane and her family moved to Oklahoma and farmed east of Erick, and moved to town before she was a teenager. She started and finished school at Erick. She had many stories about growing up with her cousins; as an only child she was very close to them and they shared many experiences growing up having family gatherings and making wonderful memories. Nell Jane was an accomplished beautician and later on a successful florist as owner of Erick Flower Shop. In 1999, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning a restaurant when she decided to switch careers and establish the Rafter T Restaurant after purchasing the landmark Cal's Country Cooking in Erick. Nell Jane carried on the tradition of good food and community in that spot for years to come. She was a very giving and generous businesswoman and she loved serving the community and taking care of everyone. When she retired from the restaurant she got to do her favorite thing and that was taking care of the grandkids and great grandkids. It was a well known fact that she adored all of her children and grandchildren, loving all of their friends as well just like they were her own. Everyone called her Granny and she loved them with all that she was and more. Nell Jane was saved and baptized at Texola Baptist church and she was a devoted and active church member. She loved attending every service and assisting with all of the activities and events at the church. Nell Jane touched so many lives and will be deeply and profoundly missed by so many who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her children, Chris Cox and wife, Michelle, of Erick, OK, Cary Cox of Erick, OK; 6 grandchildren, Justin Cox and wife, Sarah, of Erick, OK and Caty Perry and husband, Tyson, Erick, OK, Cody Cox and wife, McKenna, of Weatherford, OK, Garrett Cox of Erick, OK, Layne Cox of Erick, OK, Keeley Cox of Elk City, OK; 6 great grandchildren, Wyatt, Carsen, Liam, Ansley, Lola and Creed; her cousins, Glynn Stringer and wife, Karen, of Delhi, OK, Katy Burrows and husband, Jerry, of Cordell, OK, Lynn Stringer and wife, Jean, of Wilmington, NC, Myra Rogers Hoover of Oklahoma City, OK, Mona Rogers Ward, Ontario, CA, Wileta Tennery Wurdeman of Elkin, NC, Johnny Wayne Tennery of El Reno, OK and a host of other relatives and friends.
