Lorena Mae “Memaw” (West) Greer was born on Tuesday, March 1, 1938, in Gainsville, Texas, and passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021, in Elk City, Oklahoma, at the age of 82 years, 10 months, and 20 days.

Lorena was the third child born to Mary Ethel (Snider) and Hester Earl West. She was the younger sister of Pearley and Shirley and the older sister of Deanie, Ronnie, Bonnie, Ray, and Wayne. As a child, Lorena’s earliest memories were of traveling back and forth between Oklahoma and California by train and by trucks loaded down with their belongings since her Dad wanted to stay close to Grandpa and Grandma West. She recalled that they would stop at rest areas near water so they could wash up and their Moma could cook food and wash their clothes. Lorena had wonderful memories of her Grandpa and Grandma Snider, too, and always said they were fondest of her, though her siblings might disagree, she’d always say with a smile.

She married James LeRoy Greer on Saturday, October 8, 1955, in Clovis, New Mexico, and gained her bonus daughter Linda Joy. Lorena and LeRoy’s first born son James Earl was born in Franklin, Louisiana, followed by son LeRoy Wayne in Dimmitt, Texas, son Rickey Don in Shamrock, Texas, son Kevin Keith in Lubbock, Texas, and their baby boy Kenneth Samuel in Taft, Texas. Lorena was a homemaker and raised her family throughout many towns with LeRoy, while he worked in cotton gins. She obtained her GED in 1973 in Corpus Christi, Texas, before the family decided to settle their roots in Erick, Oklahoma.

Lorena was a very outgoing person and loved life. She always wanted to know how everyone was doing and it warmed her heart to be surrounded by people. Anytime someone had to leave after they would visit, she made sure to tell them to come back and see her and she genuinely meant it. She loved makeup, clothes, jewelry, and rolling her hair. She had a sweet tooth and ice cream was one of her favorite treats, along with a Pepsi. She loved getting up in the mornings and getting her a cup of coffee before watching her soap operas, especially The Bold and the Beautiful. She enjoyed watching Oklahoma Sooner Football, Gunsmoke, and Bonanza. Lorena was a member of the Erick church of Christ and one of her greatest accomplishments she said was when she was baptized. Lorena was a passionate and loving woman who lived for her family. They were her world and she was so very proud to be their Memaw.

Lorena is proceeded in death by her parents, Hester and Ethel; her husband LeRoy; her son Kenneth; her grand-daughter Kanesha Ann ‘Nesha’ Greer; her great-grand-daughter Jasey Michelle Greer; grand-daughter-in-law Kristy Lynn (Smith) Greer; her sister Ethel Dean ‘Deanie” (West) Babcock; and her brother Ronnie Earl West.

Lorena is survived by her daughter Linda and husband Jim Ledbetter, of Dumas, Texas; her son James Greer and wife Marianne, of Erick, Oklahoma; her son Wayne Greer of Altus, Oklahoma; her son Rickey Greer and wife Judy, of Erick, Oklahoma; her son Kevin Greer and wife Lora, of Erick, Oklahoma; her grandchildren Eddie Ledbetter, Mike Ledbetter, Brady Greer, Joseph Greer, Jason Greer, Kelley Greer, Jamie Greer, Levi Greer, MaLia Greer, Whitney McIntosh, Bryan Greer, Dalton Greer, Keaton Greer, and Jaidyn Greer; her great-grandchildren Skyler, Larissa, Tyler, Keeley, Breanna, MaShayla, Mike Jr, Makayla, Cody Lynn, Carson, Caden, Shane, Shelby, Tanner, Ransom, Maxim, Gilbert, Michael, Tessa, Aubree, Bradix, McCoy, Kabe, Alexis, Eli, EverLy, Kolyn, Kevion, Kevin, Kaiden, Brendynn, Brayden, Braeiya, McKenna; her great-great-grandchildren Wyatt, Kennedy, Addalynn, Breckenn, and Brayson; and her dear friend Dale Pair along with a host of extended family and friends.
