Kenneth Paul Faris

GUYMON, Okla. - Kenneth Paul Faris, 72, died Monday, April 8, 2002.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Chaffin, pastor, and the Rev. Floyd Daharsh of St. Stephens Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors.

Mr. Faris, the son of Mary Elizabeth Wiley and Clarence Ray Faris, was born Oct. 21, 1929, in Oklahoma City. The family moved to Guymon when he was 7 years old.

After his mother's marriage to Leon Allen, they moved to the Allen Ranch in Beaver County. He attended Gate schools and graduated from Guymon High School with the class of 1947.

He attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a two-year business degree. He then enlisted in the Coast Guard and was stationed in Galveston during the Korean War.

Following his miliary service, he returned to Guymon to marry Eleanore Sweet on Sept. 12, 1954. He obtained a degree in electronics from OSU and returned to Guymon to work for Curt's Inc. which later became Faris Brothers Appliance Store.

He began farming in 1967 and retired in 1994. He was a member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church and Guymon Elks Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather; a brother, Curt Faris; and a stepbrother, Robert L. Allen.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Pam Clayton and husband, Jeff, and Patricia Faris, all of Amarillo, Texas; a son, Paul Faris of Guymon; a brother, C.E. "Bud" Faris and wife, Doris, of Amarillo; and four grandsons, Josh Clayton, Cole Clayton, Shane Sillivent, and Brady Sillivent.

The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch in care of Henson-Novak Funeral Directors, P.O. Box 1306, Guymon, OK 73942.
