GOLDIE LORENE GARSIDE
Services: Tues., Dec. 9, 10 a.m.
Services will be held at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 Panama Ln., Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. for Goldie Lorene Garside, who passed away December 4, 2003, in Bakersfield. Pastor Doug Davis will officiate and interment will follow at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park.
Born Goldie Lorene Jackson, on January 10, 1921, in Stringtown, Oklahoma where she grew and married Joe Garside in 1937. They remained there with three of their five kids and moved to California in 1942 where the other two were born. She called Bakersfield her home since 1946. Goldie worked at the Eden Rick Café until she retired. She was a member of Greenfield First Southern Baptist Church. Goldie was a loving, honest, sweet, fun lady. Anyone who knew her should feel blessed. She only finished the 8th grade, but was smarter than most who have diplomas. Her smart wit and common sense exceeded anything school could teach. No other mother or grandmother could be loved more. To say she will be missed is an understatement. To say a part of us is gone is only a beginning, but to have her suffer no more is comforting and to know we will be with her again is exciting.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Jim and Bessie Jackson; husband, Joseph Richard Garside; great grandchildren, Kellee LaRay and Justin Case; brothers: Roy and Archie Jackson; sister, Dovie Miller, and daughter-in-law, Peggy. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Richard and Dorothy of Atoka, Oklahoma; Corky and Pat of Bakersfield; J. E. and Donna of Stringtown, Oklahoma; Joyce and Larry Thompson of Norwalk; and Pam Garside of Bakersfield; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David, John, Joe Garside; Johnny Garside, Jr., Donnie Gallian and Steve Colunga. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Moreno, Edwin and Dewight Lansdale, Don Poteet, Bill Garside and Michael Walker. A special thanks to Hospice, Dr. Albert Pinado and Norm Green.
Visitation will be held Sunday and Monday, December 7, and 8, 2003 from noon to 9:00 p.m.
