DOLPHUS L. FLOWERS
"DOC"
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2004, 11:00 a.m., at the Bardsdale Cemetery, Fillmore, California for "Doc" Flowers, 83. Mr. Flowers died
after a battle with cancer.
"Doc" was born January 15, 1921 in Atoka, Oklahoma. He passed away May 27, 2004, at his home. He had been a resident of Kern County since 1989.
"Doc" managed citrus and cattle ranches in Ventura County from 1948 through 1966. He was then hired by the U.S. Navy to be a Powerhouse Operator on Santa
Cruz and San Nicolas Islands. "Doc" retired from the Civil Service job in 1986.
"Doc" earned his nickname because of his love for horses and other animals. He could cure many ailments for the four-legged creatures. "Doc" leaves
behind his beloved companion, "Pongo," who was a loyal and trusting friend.
"Doc" was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Patricia, in 1985. "Doc" is survived by a son, Dwayne of Nevada; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbis
Zittel and Larry, Karen Burns and Doug, all of Bakersfield, and Laura Flowers of Ventura. "Doc" is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. His grandson, Tim Zittel lovingly cared for his Papa the last months of his life. "Doc" also leaves dear friend, Ethel Settlemeir, to cherish the
memories.
Pallbearers will be Roy Alsup III, Eric Standridge, Tim Zittel, Dustin O'Donnel, Devin Gregoire and Nathan Alsup.
"Doc"s" family thanks the Optimal Health Hospice family for their loving care and support.
