Jet-Funeral service for Merwyn "J" Shaklee, 83, will be Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. in the Timberlake High School Auditorium with Rev. Lyle Shipley officiating. Merwyn was born April 18, 1921 at Medford, Oklahoma to Fred O. and Edith Shaklee and died on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center. He graduated from Jet High School in 1939. He belonged to Timberlake Church until its closing. He then attended the Christian Church. He married Myrtle Ellen Campbell on July 13, 1942. They celebrated 62 years of marriage, and they were still living on the farm they purchased in 1950. In 1942 he was drafted into the service serving in the Sea Bees in World War II. After the war he returned to Jet where he carpentered and farmed. He helped build many homes in Jet, Nash and Cherokee. He helped build the Jet Co-op elevators and elevators in other towns. He also helped build the Jet United Methodist Church, the Jet Grade School and the Jet High School. He served on many boards and is a member of the American Legion in Enid.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle of the home; two sons, Rodney Shaklee of Jet and Ricky Shaklee and wife, Bonnie of Cleo Springs; one daughter, Roxanne Weeks and husband, Lary of Aline; four granddaughters, Mitsy Shaklee, Amber Buller and husband, Derlin, Kodie Shaklee and Bridget Weeks; three great-grandsons, Brock, Bradon and Braxton Buller; one sister, Thelma Wiseman and husband, Pete and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Merwyn is preceded in death by his parents,; two brothers, Don and Harold and one sister, Mildred.

The funeral for Merwyn "J" Shaklee, 83, of Jet, OK., will be 10:30 a.m. Sat. at Timberlake High School Auditorium, Helena. The Rev. Lyle Shipley will officiate. Burial will follow in Timberlake Cemetery, southwest of Jet. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc., Helena, OK. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

MM1C Merwyn J. Shaklee, son of Mr. & Mrs. F.O. Shaklee was born April 18, 1921 at Medford OK and graduated from Jet High School. He enlisted in the service at Oklahoma City in August 1942 and trained at Camp Peary VA. MM Shaklee was assigned to the Seabees, 124th Naval Construction Bn., B 732 and served 14 months in the Aleutians. He was discharged Dec. 20, 1945.
