John Simon McEachern
Monday, July 27th, 1953 - Saturday, October 28th, 2023

A Celebration of Life service for John Simon McEachern, age 70 of Jet, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2023, in the Jet Community Church with Rev. Gary Miller officiating. The burial will be at the Pleasant View Cemetery, in Jet, Oklahoma at a later date. Cremation and Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.

John was born July 27, 1953, in Alva, OK to Simon and Dorothy (Fisher) McEachern and passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, in the Wakita Nursing Home after a courageous battle with throat cancer.

John lived in the Jet area all his life on a farm. He attended and graduated from Jet Schools in 1971, where he was President of FFA and Football co-captain along with his best friend, Bill Yoder. He attended Oklahoma State University in the spring of 1972 and did drafting for the State of Oklahoma. John didn't take long to realize he wasn't going to sit in an office. He went to work for the U.S. Postal Service in 1984, where he was a clerk and letter carrier at the Cherokee Post Office. He was also the O.I.C. (officer in charge) at the Burlington and Goltry Post offices. John received a 25-year Safe Driving Award and had accumulated over 2000 hours of sick leave when he retired on November 30, 2011.

John married Desiree Lavicky and to this union a daughter, Hunter Jade, was born in 1996. John considered himself a "True Country boy". He raised wheat and cows all his life. He was a great nature lover, feeding the birds around his house and looked forward to seeing the geese and cranes fly over every fall. John was a gifted artist and photographer, along with being a good shot with a gun. He was a hair model and even was an extra in the Dillinger movie.

John was a member of the Jet Methodist Church, where he was baptized. He also served on the Jet Cemetery Board and the Ducks Unlimited Committee for over 30 years.

John is survived by his daughter, Hunter (McEachern) Klein, and her husband, Jakawan, his brother, Mark McEachern, niece, Cassie (McEachern) Walden and her husband, Tyler Walden, and their children, and his nephew, Clint McEachern, and his wife, Andrea, and their children. John cherished all his friends, as well. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Don.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory serving as custodians of the funds. Condolences may be made online, and the service may be viewed online at www.ladusauevans.com.
