ENID - The funeral for Jerald D. Kiser "J.D.," 72, of Jet, will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at United Methodist Church, Jet. The Revs. Mary Irby and Dean Holt will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, north of Jet. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Cherokee. Viewing will be 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

He was born June 8, 1937, in Holdenville and died Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at his home.

He enlisted in the Navy July 22, 1954, and trained as a meteorologist, serving until 1974. Following retirement from the Navy, he worked as a long-haul truck driver.

He married Ruby Smith Feb. 14, 1978. They made their home in Jet, where he lived until his death.

Surviving are his wife, Ruby, of the home; one daughter, Valerie Rovins of Scarsdale, N.Y.; one stepson, Don Smith of Newalla; one sister, Billye Young-blood of Atlanta; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter and one brother.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Jet Volunteer Fire Depart-ment.
