Forrest Eugene Jenlink, 90, of Jet, Okla., passed away Monday, May 19, 2014. He was born on the family farm, south of Cherokee, on Oct. 6, 1923, to John and Hattie Dunsworth Jenlink.

He attended Elkton Country School and graduated from Jet High School in 1942.

That fall, he married his high school sweetheart, Doris Tarrant, and they shared more than 71 years of marriage.

He loved farming, and started pitching bundles to a threshing machine at an early age. Driving the tractor and combine were among his favorite chores, and he was still pulling his load at the age of 88.

In the early years he would build and remodel homes in the winter, and built their farm home, where they have lived for many years. He also helped build the Jet School as an ag student. He enjoyed raising cattle, loving the last two seasons of raising cows by gazing out his kitchen window at the baby calves in the pasture.

Forrest served his community on the Jet School Board, the Co-op Board and the local Fair Board. He was an honorary FFA member.

He was a member of Jet United Methodist Church, serving on the board of trustees and enjoyed singing in the choir and a quartet. He loved his family and loved family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife, Doris, of the home; daughter, Carolyn Joyce Allen of Plano, Texas; son, Ron and wife Suzanne of Jet; grandchildren, Kevin Hartman and wife Diana, Melanie Key and husband Tandy, Jeff Jenlink and wife Shal, Jay Jenlink and wife Stephanie, Jaime Hays and husband Tim, Jason Jenlink and wife Melissa, and Joy Buckminster and husband Taylor; stepgrandchildren, Beth Holderby, and David Holderby and wife Gwyn; plus 13 great-grandchildren. He also is survived by his sister-in-law, Helen Jenlink of Cherokee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, LaVeta Viers and Glendola Schanbacher; one brother, Lloyd Jenlink; and one infant brother.

Memorials may be made to Jet Volunteer Fire Department through the funeral home.
