MILDRED EVELYN DEVORE
The funeral service for Mildred Evelyn DeVore, 88, will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Jet, OK. with Rev. Diana Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery north of Jet with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., of Cherokee, OK. Mildred Evelyn DeVore was born February 19, 1918, to Oliver and Lillian Hook Flowers on the family farm north of Amorita, OK. and passed from this life on Thursday, June 15, 2006, in the Methodist Home at the Commons in Enid, OK. She went to grade school at Mendon, Oklahoma, and graduated from Byron High School. She married Frank H. DeVore on January 1, 1940, in Enid. Mildred was a homemaker, a talented seamstress and an avid gardener. She was a member of the Eastern Star and active in the United Methodist Church in Jet.
She is survived by two daughters, Christine Arnold and husband, Bud of Enid and Charlene White of Pond Creek, OK.; four grandchildren, Alex White of Fairview, Allen White and wife, Jo of Fort Supply, Wade Arnold of Alva and Joceline Arnold of Kansas City. She enjoyed her five great-grandchildren, Sage Arnold, Emily Arnold, Andrew, Devon and Allison White. She is also survived by two nieces, Barbara Corbin of Seneca, Missouri and Lois Parker of Parsons, Oklahoma and one nephew, Bill Coss, Jr. of Joplin, Missouri.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; two sisters, Rena Coss and Eddie Cecil Flowers.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Jet Fire Department or the United Methodist Care Center at the Commons in Enid. (Paid Obit 6-17-1)
