Orland J. “Jiggs” Stevens
The funeral for Orland J. “Jiggs” Stevens, 85, of Fort Worth, Texas, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Wentworth’s Mortuary Chapel, Carmen. The Rev. Kirk Board will officiate. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery, north of Dacoma.
He was born May 4, 1921, in Alva to Ora and Mattie Jones Stevens and died Monday, March 19, 2007.
He graduated from Carmen High School in 1941. He married Bonnadean Jeffries Feb. 14, 1942. She died Oct. 22, 1978. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps Sept. 9, 1942, and served until Oct. 25, 1945, when he was honorably discharged as a sergeant. After World War II, they moved to Wichita, Kan., and he worked for Cessna Aircraft Co. He was a member of Albert Pike Lodge No. 303 of Wichita, and Most Worshipful Grand Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Kansas for over 61 years. He retired from Cessna Aircraft Co. He married Mary Rogene Phelps in 1980, and they made their home in Wichita.
Surviving are his wife Mary Rogene; his children, Orlan Stevens of Udall, Kan., and Douglas Stevens of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, Bonnadean, he was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
