CATHERENE ELIZABETH BURCHARDT
The funeral for Catherene Elizabeth Damon Burchardt, 95, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Federated Church, Kingfisher, OK.. The Rev. Charles Smith will officiate. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. in Marshall Lions Cemetery North, Marshall, OK. Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Service, Kingfisher, OK.
She was born July 8, 1910, in Ringwood , OK. to George and Eva McCreary Burchardt and died Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at First Shamrock Nursing Center.
She graduated from Ringwood High School. She started nurse training at Enid General Hospital. She married August Burchardt in 1929. They moved to Crescent, OK. where he was manager of Crescent Lumber Co. They moved to Marshall, OK. in 1945 and purchased Burchardt Lumber Co.
She was active as a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, Garden Club member and Book Study Group member. She worked with Logan County Tuberculosis Association, serving as secretary. She was pianist for Crescent Lions Club and Marshall Lions Club. She served as president of Crescent PTA, coached girls and boys 4-H and organized the Crescent Flower Club. She was the first president of Oklahoma Association of Women’s Guild of Kansas City Synod after the merger of Evangelical and Reformed Church in 1934.
They moved to Maplewood, Mo., in 1957. She taught Sunday school and served as secretary of Womens Guild, Womens Fellowship and Sewing Circle at Evangelical United Church of Christ. She also was a member of Ladies Aid Society of Evangelical Children’s Home.
Surviving are one daughter, Dorthea J. “Dottie” Miller of Kingfisher,OK.; one son, the Rev. Charles O. Burchardt of Marshall, OK.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
