Helen L. Aldrich
Funeral services for Helen L. Aldrich, 85, of Lamont, will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at Lamont United Methodist Church, Lamont. Rev. Kevin Watson and Jake Aldrich will officiate. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery, Medford. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.
Helen was born Dec. 31, 1921, near Amorita, the fourth daughter of David and Mable Angle. She passed away Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at Bass Pavilion in Enid.
She moved with her family to Newton, Kan., at a very early age and attended school there. She graduated from Newton High School in May 1940. A few months later Helen attended business college in Wichita, Kan., for seven months. She then did secretarial work for three years in Wichita, Kan., and Richmond, Va.
On Nov. 22, 1942 she married Raymond Aldrich in Deer Creek. Her husband, Raymond, was in the U.S. Navy Seabees for three years. When he returned from the service in December 1945, they lived in Wichita for awhile. They returned to Oklahoma and farmed for the next 46 years. During their years of farming Helen took many home cooked meals to the field and went after repairs often.
Helen was a member of Lamont United Methodist Church and Victory Class, the American Legion Auxiliary, Willing Workers Club, and Lamont Senior Activity Center. Helen was a wife, mother, a grandmother and a great-grandmother. She enjoyed making craft items and playing cards.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Aldrich of Lamont; three sons, Charles “Chuck” Aldrich and wife Marilyn of Hunter, Joe and wife Darlene Aldrich of Thornton, Colo., and Jim and wife Paula Aldrich of Lamont; one daughter, Bonnie and husband David Ledet of Yuma, Colo.; two brothers, Paul Angle of Los Angeles, Calif., and Kenny Angle of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Norma Ormandy of Tucson, Ariz., and Lois Swanson and husband Don of Sun City, Ariz. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Eugene Angle and Dale Angle; and four sisters, Thelma Martin, Evelyn Budde, Neva June Angle and Irma Schwartz.
Memorials may be given to the Lamont Senior Activity Center or the Lamont United Methodist Church. (Paid Obit 2-14-1)
