ENID — Doris May Rader Shelite, daughter of Faye Strong and Leonard Rader, was born Aug. 22, 1942, in Freedom, Okla., and passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Servant Living Center, Medford, at the age of 68.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011, in Keith Cemetery, Burlington, Okla., with Pastor Steve Meier officiating. Service is under the kind guidance of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service and Cremation Directors.

Doris grew up on the family farm west of Alva and attended Farry School, graduating from eighth grade in 1956. That same year the family moved to Alva, where she attended Alva High School.

She married Lawrence Shelite in 1960 and in 1965 they were given the gift of a daughter, Misti.

Doris was a homemaker and watched after many children in their home. She loved to cook, crochet, write letters to loved ones and always enjoyed a good chat with friends.

She accepted the Lord into her life at an early age and she enjoyed singing hymns and reading her Bible. She was an enthusiastic fan of Elvis and the highlight of her life was attending his concert in 1972.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved Uncle Bill Rader and grandparents, Clyde and Gussie Rader.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Misti and her husband Floyd Knopf of Burlington; granddaughter, Lakin Ragains of Waukoms; grandson, Thomas Knopf of Alva; brother, Ernest Rader and wife Millie of Alva; her beloved aunt, Olive Rader of Alva; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Memorials may be made in Doris’ memory to Ross Health Care, Servant Living Center, or Keith Cemetery with Stittsworth’s coordinating.
